The most valuable Charmander card is the 1999 Japanese 64 Mario Stadium Best Photo promo, a contest prize that sold for $640,500 in PSA 8 at Goldin on August 9, 2026. Behind it, two PSA 10 Legendary Collection reverse holos each brought $216,000 in September. Here are the 12 most valuable Charmander cards, what a Snap promo actually is and where the realistic entry points sit.

Current as of November 1, 2026. One entry per card at its highest known sale. Results come from Goldin lot records and Fanatics Collect's Paid sold records, and auction prices include buyer's premium. Buy Now prices carry no premium. Heritage and eBay were not fully swept, so a higher sale there is possible. Goldin dates are US Eastern and Fanatics Collect dates are US Pacific.

The Most Valuable Charmander Cards, Ranked

Ranked by each card's highest public sale we found, any grade. Paid sales only at Fanatics Collect. Multi-card lots are left out.

1. 1999 Japanese 64 Mario Stadium Best Photo Snap Charmander: $640,500

  • Sale: Goldin, August 9, 2026, PSA 8, 57 bids
  • Why it matters: Sports Illustrated calls it the all-time record for the Best Photo Charmander and a population of one in PSA 8. A PSA 7 sold for $79,300 at Goldin in November 2023, and a CGC 9 brought a reported $75,000 at Heritage in May 2024

2. 2002 Legendary Collection Reverse Holo Charmander #70: $216,000

  • Sale: Fanatics Collect, September 20, 2026, PSA 10, 25 bids
  • Why it matters: two different PSA 10s, certs 27484202 and 26261188, each sold for $216,000 on the same day (the second is here). The lot pages show a PSA population of 36
  • The second slab sold for $22,200 on March 1, 2026, so that one slab resold at almost ten times the price in under seven months. March was the lowest 2026 PSA 10 sale we found: paid PSA 10s brought $36,000 on April 12 and $28,800 on June 7. A CGC 10 sold for $57,600 in August 2026. A $96,000 PSA 10 result on October 18 is still marked Unpaid

3. 2000 Topps Chrome Series 1 Tekno Charmander #4: $66,000

  • Sale: Fanatics Collect, July 26, 2026, PSA 10, 68 bids
  • Why it matters: the lot page lists a PSA population of 7, and the bid count was the highest on this list. A PSA 10 sold for $3,791 at Goldin in October 2025

4. 2002 Japanese McDonald's Holo Charmander #4: $52,800

5. 2006 EX Crystal Guardians Reverse Holo Charmander #49: $34,200

  • Sale: Fanatics Collect, September 27, 2026, PSA 10, 44 bids
  • Why it matters: a PSA population of 22 on the lot page. Another PSA 10 sold for $24,600 on October 25, 2026

6. 1996 Japanese Alpha Playtest Charmander: $34,160

  • Sale: Goldin, July 20, 2024, CGC 9, 14 bids
  • Why it matters: a pre-release playtest print, the earliest card on this list, and Goldin listed it as a population of one

7. 2006 EX Crystal Guardians Reverse Holo Charmander #48: $16,200

8. 1996 Pokémon Club Part 1 Charmander: $16,120

  • Sale: Goldin, February 15, 2026, PSA 5, 30 bids
  • Why it matters: a PSA 4 sold for $10,980 at Goldin in May 2026, but a PSA 5 brought only $7,200 at Fanatics Collect on July 19, 2026, so low-grade prices here are thin and swing hard

9. 2000 Topps Chrome Series 1 Sparkle Charmander #4: $15,000

  • Sale: Fanatics Collect Buy Now, May 12, 2026, PSA 10
  • Why it matters: a fixed-price sale, not an auction. The last paid PSA 10 auction we found was $1,830 in September 2023, so this is one buyer's price, not a settled market

10. 1996 Japanese Base Set No Rarity Charmander #4: $14,600

  • Sale: Fanatics Collect Buy Now, August 18, 2026, PSA 10
  • Why it matters: another fixed-price sale. The last paid PSA 10 auction we found was $2,070 in September 2024

11. 2007 EX Power Keepers Reverse Holo Charmander #48: $14,400

12. 2004 EX FireRed & LeafGreen Reverse Holo Charmander #57: $13,800

Not ranked: a 2005 EX Delta Species reverse holo #37 that Fanatics Collect titles Ditto Charmander sold for $19,200 in PSA 10 in September 2026. It is a Ditto card, so we left it out.

What Is a Snap Best Photo Charmander?

In 1999, Pokémon Snap players in Japan could enter their in-game photos in contests. The winning shots became real cards with the player's name on them. Pokumon's history lists five 64 Mario Stadium TV show winners: Articuno, Chansey, Charmander, Koffing and Squirtle. Each winner got only 15 copies, against 20 for the separate CoroCoro contest.

Goldin's August 2026 auction had the other two starters in the same spotlight, per Action Figure Insider:

  • CoroCoro Best Photo Bulbasaur, PSA 8: $809,943
  • 64 Mario Stadium Best Photo Charmander, PSA 8: $640,500
  • 64 Mario Stadium Best Photo Squirtle, PSA 6: $555,100

The Bulbasaur came from the CoroCoro contest, so these three were never one set.

Where a Charmander Collection Can Start

The English Base Set print is the card most collectors picture, and it sits far below this list. These are recent paid results at Fanatics Collect:

  • 1999 Shadowless 1st Edition #46, PSA 10: $3,480 on October 25, 2026, after $4,200 on October 18. The 21 paid sales we found in 2026 ran from $2,200 to $4,800
  • 2002 Legendary Collection reverse holo #70, PSA 8: $2,010 on October 25, 2026
  • 2004 EX FireRed & LeafGreen reverse holo #57, PSA 9: $1,300 on October 8, 2026

Our take: Charmander's top end is about scarce promos and reverse holos, not its English Base Set print. The Legendary Collection reverse holo is the one to watch closely, because one slab went from $22,200 to $216,000 between March and September, and the October $96,000 result is still marked Unpaid. Our Legendary Collection ranking covers the whole set, our Charizard guide covers the top of the line, and our Snap Bulbasaur report covers that auction.
