Pokémon TCG Pocket's Deluxe Pack Mega Guarantees an ex in Every Pack

Pokémon TCG Pocket's Deluxe Pack Mega launches September 29, 2026, at 6 p.m. PDT, with four digital cards and a guaranteed Pokémon ex in each pack. The official September 24 announcement also confirms returning cards, new artwork and parallel foils. This is a release inside Pocket, not a physical Pokémon TCG expansion.

What the Guaranteed ex Does and Does Not Mean

The guarantee identifies a category of card. It does not promise a particular Pokémon, your preferred illustration or a missing entry in your collection. Those are different questions, and the pack description should not be stretched into answers it does not provide.

Before choosing what to open, look at the final in-app card list and offering rates for the version you want. A collector filling gaps and someone seeking one specific artwork may make different choices even when looking at the same pack.

PokéBeach's September 24 report describes the release as a special set revisiting the past year's cards. The confirmed range runs from Mega Rising through Ruler of the Skies, including reissues of their four-diamond cards.

September 29 or September 30? Both Dates Can Be Correct

The official Pacific launch converts to September 30 at 1 a.m. UTC. If two previews show different calendar dates, check their timezone before assuming a delay or conflicting announcement.

Nintendo Life's preview also distinguishes September 30 from September 29 in some regions. Use the app's notice for the timing that applies to you.

There is no need to manufacture an opening deadline from an incomplete preview. Check the current in-app availability notice rather than assuming every special pack remains permanently available or adopting an unsourced end date.

New Artwork Is a Different Goal From Filling Gaps

A returning card with another visual treatment can appeal to someone who already has a playable version. That collector is pursuing the artwork, while another player may be looking for a card needed in a deck.

Make that distinction before comparing the release with older packs. Write down the card or version you actually want, then check how it is offered. A broad label such as new cards can obscure the difference between a new game effect, a reprint and an alternate illustration.

The official preview includes Mega Charizard X ex imagery. Covers and backdrops featuring that Pokémon are separately scheduled for September 30. An app accessory should not be confused with a card obtained from a pack.

A Separate October Update Matters to Existing Players

Pokémon also outlines late-October changes: current rental decks will be replaced, theme deck lists and missions will end, and existing Step-up Battle rewards will become unavailable after that system changes.

Those are game-update details, not extra contents of Deluxe Pack Mega. If you have unfinished activities, read the relevant in-app notices before the update. Do not assume every deadline is the pack launch date.

The planned community-deck feature offers another reason to keep track of what you actually own. Seeing a published list is different from having the cards needed to build it. Treat a deck idea as a collection goal, not proof that opening this release will finish it.

Keep Digital and Physical Collections Separate

Pocket cards stay part of the app experience. They are not physical cards that can be mailed to you or transferred to the Polkastarter marketplace.
