PSA Launches Grade & Sell for Video Games, and Rainier Consignment Keeps 7% to 20%

PSA launched Grade & Sell for video games on November 3, 2026: you send games to PSA (raw, or in another grader's case as a crossover), and once they are graded they ship straight to Rainier Consignment, which auctions them on its eBay store, per PSA's announcement. Rainier keeps 7% to 20% of the sale price plus a small flat fee on cheaper games, auctions start at $0.99, and once you pick Grade & Sell you cannot cancel it. Here is how it works, what you actually take home, and when it makes sense.
How PSA Grade & Sell Works
PSA calls it "a faster and easier way to sell your graded video games." The flow, per PSA:
- Start a new PSA video game submission and choose Grade & Sell. Every service level and add-on qualifies, including Prototypes and crossovers (games moving into a PSA case from another grader).
- PSA authenticates, grades and encapsulates the games, then ships the whole order to Rainier Consignment.
- Rainier emails you an itemized list within 48 hours of delivery and lists the games on its eBay store within 7 days.
- Rainier pays you within one week after the buyer's payment settles.
Rainier lists on Thursdays (for games delivered Friday to Monday) in 10-day auctions that end on a Sunday. In its November 3, 2026 announcement, PSA describes Rainier as consigning since 2017, with more than 38,000 items sold and 99.8% positive feedback on eBay. Canadian orders are not eligible.
Rainier Consignment's Fees
Rainier charges one fee based on the final sale price, and buyers pay shipping, per the fee chart in PSA's announcement:
$15,000 and up
- You get: 93%
- PSA's example: sells for $18,000, you get $16,740
$5,000 to $14,999
- You get: 90%
- PSA's example: sells for $5,000, you get $4,500
$1,000 to $4,999
- You get: 85%
- PSA's example: sells for $2,000, you get $1,700
$500 to $999
- You get: 82.5%, minus $3
- PSA's example: sells for $750, you get $614.50 (the 82.5% minus $3 formula gives $615.75, so PSA's example looks $1.25 low)
$0.99 to $499
- You get: 80%, minus $5
- PSA's example: sells for $100, you get $75

What You Actually Take Home
Rainier's cut is not the whole bill. PSA's grading fee comes off too. On PSA's video game pricing page on November 4, 2026, the cheapest tier is Turbo at $49.99 per item (about 30 business days), then Speed-Run at $69.99 (about 15) and Warp-Zone at $124.99 (about 5). Games declared at $1,000 to $1,999 add 1% of the declared value, and games above $2,000 add 2%.
Run PSA's own examples through the Turbo tier:
- A $100 game: Rainier pays $75, minus $49.99 for grading, leaves about $25
- A $750 game: $614.50, minus $49.99, leaves about $565
- A $5,000 game declared at $5,000: $4,500, minus $49.99 and a $100 insured-value fee, leaves about $4,350
Those figures leave out shipping your games to PSA and any add-ons like Light Cleaning ($9.99 on the same pricing page). On a $100 game, Rainier's cut and Turbo grading take three quarters of the sale, and a game has to sell for about $69 just to cover both. At $5,000 and up, with the 2% insured-value fee, you keep about 87% to 91%. On an $18,000 game, that is about $16,330.
The Catches Before You Tick the Box
- No cancel: once you choose Grade & Sell, every game in the order is committed to sale on Rainier's eBay store.
- $0.99 starts: you cannot pick a starting price. You can agree a reserve with Rainier, and any reserve fees come out of your payout.
- No grade veto: the slab goes straight from PSA to Rainier, so a game that grades lower than you hoped still goes to auction. A reserve agreed with Rainier is your only floor.
- Returns cost you: games PSA cannot grade, judges inauthentic or that fail autograph authentication come back at your cost, with a separate shipping fee.
- Upcharges apply: PSA's FAQ says Grade & Sell orders are subject to upcharges, so declare each game's value accurately.
- Rainier gets your details: asked whether your data is shared with Rainier, PSA's FAQ answers yes.
Fixed-price listings are possible if you agree them with Rainier.
Our take: Grade & Sell makes sense for a sealed or high-grade game you already planned to sell, worth well into four figures, where giving up 7% to 15% to Rainier, plus grading and the insured-value fee, buys you out of photos, listings and buyer messages. For a game you want to keep, or one you would only sell above a certain grade, submit normally and decide after the grade comes back.
