Secret Lair Marvel Countdown Kit: 30 Cards for $199.99, With Two Darkhold Destiny Cards Early

Magic: The Gathering's Secret Lair Countdown Kit: Marvel's History of Heroes went on sale November 2, 2026 at $199.99 on MagicSecretLair.com, with 30 individually packaged cards by over 30 artists, per Wizards of the Coast, and shipping begins November 4. Two of them (Doctor Strange, Master of Magic, and Beta Ray Bill) are uncommons from Marvel: Darkhold Destiny, a set that does not release until April 9, 2027. It is the first Countdown Kit since the Encyclopedia of Magic, per ICv2.
Every Card in the Kit
Wizards lists all 30, in this order:
- Molten Duplication
- Fierce Guardianship
- Unbreakable Formation
- Timber Protector
- Biorhythm
- Tainted Pact
- "With Great Power . . ."
- Vigor
- Mjölnir, Storm Hammer
- Doctor Strange, Master of Magic
- Champion's Helm
- Force of Virtue
- Heroic Intervention
- Fighter Class
- Court of Bounty
- Devastation
- Unholy Heat
- Villainous Wrath
- Damning Verdict
- Primal Might
- Damn
- Genesis Wave

- Beta Ray Bill
- Snuff Out
- Titanic Ultimatum
- Opposition Agent
- Collective Effort
- Lightning Bolt
Each card comes in its own bag and board inside a comic book-style long box with stickers, per the product page. Wizards says the cards randomly appear in non-foil, foil or surge foil, so you cannot pick a finish. The other 28 are reprints with new Marvel-inspired art, per MTGRocks.

Is $199.99 Good Value?
MTGRocks estimated on October 16, 2026 that the reprints in the kit add up to about $248 at the prices of their existing printings, against the $199.99 price. The value sits in a handful of cards:
- Fierce Guardianship: about $59
- Biorhythm: about $34
- Tainted Pact: about $30
- Timber Protector: about $23
- Opposition Agent: about $20
- Devastation: about $18
Heroic Intervention (about $16) and Molten Duplication (about $15) come next, and most of the rest sit under $10, several under $1. MTGRocks puts the six cards above at about $184 of the $248, and the two Darkhold Destiny cards have no price yet. Secret Lair versions will set their own prices, so treat the $248 as a rough check, not resale math.
The Two Darkhold Destiny Cards
Marvel: Darkhold Destiny is a Universes Beyond set with an all-new, original Marvel story, releasing April 9, 2027, per Wizards. The kit's announcement says both cards are legal in all formats from the set's prerelease events, which begin April 2, 2027, and Wizards of the Coast wrote on October 16, 2026 that it is "bringing them to you a bit earlier than usual." With shipping from November 4, that puts them in hand about five months before prerelease. MTGRocks judged neither uncommon very powerful, so treat them as collectibles first.

Our take: buy it for the Marvel art and the two early Darkhold cards. If you only want Fierce Guardianship, the single is cheaper. Our most expensive Magic cards guide covers the top of the Magic market, and our Star Trek Secret Lair superdrop story covers the other big Secret Lair this month.
