Yu-Gi-Oh! Beyond the Brave Arrives October 9: Joey Wheeler's Cards, 25 Starlight Rares and What to Know

Yu-Gi-Oh! Beyond the Brave releases in North America on October 9, 2026, at $4.49 a pack, with 100 cards led by Joey Wheeler's new cards, 25 of them also printed as Starlight Rares, according to Konami's product page and ICv2. Official Tournament Stores get it two days early, on October 7, and the set is tournament legal from October 9. Here is what is in it, what to chase and how it fits the rest of the year.
Beyond the Brave Release Dates and Price
- Official Tournament Stores (North America): October 7, 2026
- General release (North America): October 9, 2026, the same day it becomes tournament legal
- Europe: October 8, 2026, per Konami Europe. Yugipedia lists the same date for Oceania
- Price: $4.49 per pack (MSRP), per Konami. North American packs hold 9 cards, as printed on the pack art, with 24 packs to a box. Yugipedia lists 5-card packs in Oceania
A Japanese version came out on July 18, 2026, per Yugipedia, so many of these cards are already known to OCG players. The English set is not a straight copy: it runs 100 cards to Japan's 80 and adds TCG-only cards, including the two world premieres below.
What Is in Beyond the Brave
Rarity breakdown, per Konami (100 cards)
- 10 Secret Rares
- 14 Ultra Rares
- 26 Super Rares
- 50 Commons
- 5 cards that also come as extended art Ultra Rares and Starlight Rares
- 20 more cards available as Starlight Rares, for 25 Starlight Rares in total
Joey Wheeler's cards
- Per Konami's product page, Joey's new cards "all revolve around the Dark Time Wizard Spell Card". It is a Quick-Play Spell with two effects to choose from, one safe and one risky
- Konami says Dark Time Wizard celebrates Joey's Duels against Rex, Mai, Bonz, Espa Roba, Mako and Odion. The cards it searches include Swiftwind Panther Warrior, Alligator's Dragon Knight, Jinzo - Energy Shocker and Fisherman of Legend
- The cover card is Red-Eyes Black Dragon Exceed, per Yugipedia, a new Fusion Monster that Dark Time Wizard can bring out even when the coin toss goes wrong, per Konami and CBR. Yugipedia's set list also shows an extended art Starlight Rare version
Other headline cards, per Konami
- Destiny HERO: Destiny HERO - Destro-Dogma, Destiny HERO - Dreadnought Master and a reworked Destiny HERO - Doom Overlord, aimed squarely at Aster Phoenix fans
- Atlantis: Atlantis, City of the Sea Dragon, Azure Ocean Dragon Lord - Neo-Daedalus Rage and Levia-Dragoon - Daedalus
- Ashtra: a Trap theme built around Ashtrashen - Gate to the Worlds Beyond, with Synchro bosses Ashtraja Susanoo and Ashtraya Mikumari-no-Mikoto
- World premieres: Audhumla, Progenitor of the Frozen Expanse, which also comes in extended art, plus a teased card Konami's product page calls only "a GREY king"
- Support: Verre, the Maid of Endymion, Clown Crew Cappello and Predaplant Daredevil

What Collectors Will Chase
Starlight Rares are the set's top chase. Konami has not published a pull rate for them, only the counts above.
Prices are not settled yet. Hobby Card Index reported on September 14, 2026 that nothing from the set had traded. As a proxy, it measured raw prices for Chaos Origins, the previous core set with the same rarity structure: a median of $151.06 for its 5 extended art Starlight Rares, $33.68 for its 20 regular Starlight Rares and $0.51 for the other 105 card rows. Treat early Beyond the Brave listings as presale prices until the cards are actually in stores.
Our take: if you want a specific Starlight Rare, buying the single once the set has been out for a few weeks is usually more predictable than opening boxes for it. Where Beyond the Brave Fits in 2026
Beyond the Brave is the next core booster after Chaos Origins, which released in July. It is also the first core set since the World Championship wrapped in Tokyo on August 30, covered in our Yu-Gi-Oh Worlds 2026 recap.
