A factory-sealed 2004 Pokémon EX Team Rocket Returns booster box sold for $384,300 at Goldin on October 25, 2026, the top sealed result in Goldin's Pokémon 30th Anniversary auction. The auction totaled more than $28 million with 18 record sales, per ICv2. Three sealed boxes cleared $340,000, including a 2011 Call of Legends box at $341,600, after a box of the same set sold for $62,906 at Goldin in May.

The Top Sealed Booster Boxes

1. 2004 EX Team Rocket Returns, 36 packs: $384,300

  • Goldin, 21 bids, with an X-Ray Authority letter of authenticity. Possible Gold Star Torchic, Treecko and Mudkip inside. Goldin says each pack holds nine cards and the box is sealed in its manufacturer's wrap

2. 2005 EX Deoxys, 36 packs: $378,267

  • Goldin, 17 bids, with an X-Ray Authority letter. Possible Gold Star Rayquaza, Latias and Latios

3. 2011 Call of Legends, 36 packs: $341,600

  • Goldin, 35 bids, with an X-Ray Authority letter

4. 2005 EX Unseen Forces, 36 packs: $183,001

5. 2000 Korean Base Set 1st Edition, 36 packs: $78,690

All prices include Goldin's 22% buyer's premium. Bidding ran past midnight ET, so Call of Legends and the Korean box closed early on October 26. Counting everything sealed, a Pokémon Yellow game graded PSA 10/A++ at $322,080 would rank fourth.

What Changed Since May

Goldin sold a sealed Call of Legends box for $62,906 on May 17, 2026, also with an X-Ray Authority letter. The October box brought about 5.4 times that, five months later. These are two different boxes, and the one sale in each auction is not a market average, but the gap is hard to miss.

The Deoxys comparison needs more care. Goldin's $158,600 sale in May was a European English-language box, a different product from October's $378,267 box, so the two should not be read as the same item doubling.

Where They Rank

Our list of the most expensive Pokémon booster boxes is led by 1st Edition Base Set boxes, topped by a $750,000 sale in September 2026. Outside Base Set 1st Edition, its top result was a Skyridge box at $212,500 in March 2026, a mark these three October boxes all passed by a wide margin.

The Rest of the Auction

The singles took the headlines. In the same auction, an Art Academy Mudkip by Daisuke Ochiai brought $4.88 million, covered in our Mudkip report, and a Gold 1st Place Trophy Pikachu in PSA 8 sold for $3,080,500, covered in our Trophy Pikachu report.

Our take: Gold Star sets have an obvious pull. A PSA 10 Gold Star Mudkip from Team Rocket Returns brought $610,000 in this same auction. Call of Legends has no Gold Stars, so its jump looks like a Lugia story: a PSA 10 Call of Legends Lugia sold for $367,220 at Goldin on September 10, 2026, between the two box sales. If you shop sealed at this level, read the authentication letter first, because resealing is a known risk.

Where to Go From Here

Three sealed boxes from 2004 to 2011 just cleared $340,000. That is within range of the $427,000 a 1st Edition Base Set box brought at Goldin in March 2026, and still well short of the $750,000 record.
