Target's Pokémon Event Is September 27. Is the Mewtwo Promo Confirmed?

Target's Pokémon 30th Anniversary Celebration takes place Sunday, September 27, 2026, from 12 to 4 p.m. local time at participating US stores. The official event page confirms drawing activities, photo opportunities and giveaways while supplies last. It does not currently promise the Mewtwo promo circulating in collector reports.

What Target Has Actually Announced

The central activity is a chance to draw your own Pokémon TCG card. Target also lists themed photo opportunities, giveaways and a Pokémon Pokopia demo on Nintendo Switch 2 at select stores. Shopping for Pokémon merchandise and games is part of the event listing.

There are two important limits. “Most stores” does not mean every location, and a demo at select stores is not a nationwide promise. A drawing activity also should not be mistaken for a newly issued tournament-playable promo card. It is an activity to enjoy on its own terms.

PocketMonsters' September 22 coverage records the same event schedule and links back to Target. This is a specific weekend event, separate from a retailer's ordinary card-restock pattern.

Check the Participating-Store List Before Travelling

Target supplies an official event-store PDF, organized by state with store numbers and addresses. Search the document for your city or ZIP code, then match the exact address.

Two locations in the same city are not interchangeable. If you are planning a longer trip, ask the listed store which activities it will run and where to find them. The published event window does not tell you how a particular location will handle a queue or distribute its limited supplies.

Keep the question precise: “Are you participating in the September 27 Pokémon event?” is more useful than asking only whether the store has Pokémon cards. Our Target restock guide covers ordinary stock checks. The event list answers a different question.

Is Target Giving Away the Mewtwo Promo?

Not confirmed on Target's public event page as of September 25. Dexerto's September 23 report describes social reports connecting Mewtwo cards and anniversary tins with some stores, but explicitly notes that Target has not publicly confirmed the card or a first-100-guests limit.

That means a collector should not treat a screenshot from another location as a guaranteed offer at their own store. Nor should a purchase be assumed to qualify for a card without the local terms being clear.

Pokémon's separate retailer promotion begins October 2. Our Mewtwo retailer-promo article covers that announced offer and its listed retailers. Do not move those conditions onto September 27 or assume they establish a Target-specific promotion.

An Event Is Not a Guaranteed Restock

The useful reason to visit is the announced experience. Target's listing does not identify a guaranteed quantity of Elite Trainer Boxes, tins or booster packs for each participant.

Before travelling, check the store's participation, the activity you want and any stated giveaway conditions. Before buying, check the actual product and total price. Keep those as separate decisions, an event confirmation is not an inventory reservation.

For collectors attending with family, that distinction also avoids building the afternoon around an unconfirmed card. Enjoy the drawing or photo activity if it appeals to you, and treat any locally confirmed extra as exactly what that store says it is.
