2026 Topps Inception Football hobby boxes went on preorder on October 5, 2026 at $369.99, and by October 8 they showed as sold out on Topps.com. The boxes release on November 6. It is the first NFL-licensed Inception Football release since 2015, per Topps' own collector guide and Checklist Insider, and No. 1 pick Fernando Mendoza headlines the rookie class. Here is what is in a box, what is new in the set, and how Topps got back to licensed NFL cards.

2026 Topps Inception Football Price, Box and Release Date

Hobby Box: $369.99 (sold out on Topps.com)

  • Contents: 1 pack of 7 cards
  • Hits: 1 autograph per box
  • Release: November 6, 2026, per Topps
  • Limit: 6 per cart

  • Preorders opened October 5 at 1 p.m. ET, per SI Collectibles, and Blowout Buzz and Checklist Insider both report the same $369.99 price

Checklist Insider also reports a separate First Day Issue box, presold from October 1, with an exclusive patch autograph numbered to 22.

What Is in 2026 Topps Inception Football

Per Topps' release page and collector guide:

  • Headline rookie: Fernando Mendoza, the Heisman Trophy-winning Indiana quarterback the Las Vegas Raiders took first overall in the April 23, 2026 NFL Draft, per CNN Sports
  • New base parallels: Gold Electricity, numbered to 50, and Hot Pink, numbered to 35
  • New to football: Immersion Autographs and Charged Particles Autographs, both carried over from Inception Baseball
  • Returning favorites: the Launch insert, Inception Silver Signings (whose one-of-ones can carry inscriptions), Dual Rookie Autographs and Rookie Jumbo Relic Autographs, plus Rookie Autographs on the base rookie design and the Dawn of Greatness and Genesis cards
  • Other rookies named by Topps: Ty Simpson, Caleb Downs, Ja'Kobi Lane, Carson Beck and Jeremiyah Love

Topps also posted a downloadable checklist on its release page.

Why Inception's Return Matters

Inception Football first came out in 2011, per Topps' product history, and is built around thick card stock, bright art and on-card autographs. Its last NFL-licensed edition was 2015. Topps did put out an unlicensed Inception Football set in 2024, per Checklist Insider, so 2026 is the first edition with an NFL license since 2015. Panini held the NFL license from 2016, and Topps sat out what Fox Sports called "a decade out of the NFL" until the NFL and NFLPA announced on April 2, 2026 that Fanatics-owned Topps would again be the league's exclusive trading card licensee, Fox Sports reported. Inception lands six months into that deal, after Topps Chrome led the way in April, and its one-autograph box is built around this draft class's signatures.

What It Means for Collectors

  • One pack, one autograph. At $369.99, the box is built for the hit. You get 7 cards and 1 autograph, so the value of a box comes down to whose signature you pull.
  • The Topps.com allocation is gone. Hobby shops and secondary sellers are the route now. Compare any listing against the $369.99 Topps price before you pay more.
  • Chasing Mendoza? With one autograph across a deep rookie checklist, a box is no guarantee of a Mendoza. Buying his card as a single after November 6 is the only way to be sure.

Our take: a Topps.com sellout within three days of preorders opening, for a single seven-card pack at $369.99, says collectors want licensed rookie autographs from this class.
