A PSA Gem Mint 10 Alpha Black Lotus reportedly sold for $2,208,200 at Goldin on September 19, 2026, including the buyer's premium. Star City Games reported the total on September 21, with Sports Illustrated also identifying the sale. Star City Games and Sports Illustrated.

Readers may also have seen $1.81 million attached to this card. The distinction is the bid versus the total with the premium, rather than two different Black Lotus sales.

Where the Two Price Figures Come From

CardWire's September 20 report gives a final bid of $1,810,000. Star City Games gives the premium-inclusive total of $2,208,200. Both reports refer to the Goldin sale of the PSA 10 Alpha card. Bid report and total-price report.

Use the same price basis when comparing another result. A hammer figure beside a premium-inclusive figure can create a price change that is partly an accounting mismatch. The complete invoice may have other buyer-specific costs, so even an auction's published total is not a universal delivered cost.

The Goldin lot page identifies the auction item. Its publicly available structured price showed the $1.81 million figure during our September 22 check. We are attributing the $2,208,200 total to the published sale reports, rather than claiming access to a buyer's invoice or payment confirmation.

This Is Alpha, Graded PSA Gem Mint 10

PSA's public record for certification 30504247 identifies a 1993 Magic: The Gathering Limited Edition Alpha Black Lotus graded Gem Mint 10. The record showed a population of three at that grade when checked September 22. PSA certification record.

That does not mean only three Black Lotus cards exist. It is a grading-population statement tied to this card identification and grade. It should not be applied to other printings, other grades or another company's grading scale.

The front and reverse photographs published with the sale report show the same certification. For an individual buyer, that is the kind of detail to compare with a listing, alongside the seller's own current photographs. Our graded-card verification guide explains why a matching number alone cannot authenticate a transaction.

A Big Result Does Not Need an Overstated Record Claim

The headline is substantial without calling this the most expensive Magic card in every category. Public auctions, private transactions and different grading descriptions need separate treatment. This report stays with the identified Goldin lot and the attributed September 19 result.

For anyone maintaining a collection record, save the source links now. Write down the edition, grading service, certification, sale date and whether the recorded price includes a premium. Those fields make a future comparison more useful than a screenshot of a social-media number.

Our major trading-card sales reference covers the broader landscape. A result at this level belongs in that context, not as an automatic price guide for a played copy or a later printing.

What Changes for Collectors Following the Sale

There is now a fresh reported transaction to discuss, and a clear example of why auction fees matter in headlines. There is no evidence here that an entire game or every vintage card moved by the same amount.

If you collect for the artwork, history or play connection, those reasons do not require owning a trophy-grade specimen. Start with the exact version and condition that fit your collection, then evaluate the actual item rather than importing this result into its asking price.
