The most valuable Gengar card sold at auction is a 2002 Legendary Collection reverse holo Gengar #11 in PSA 10, which brought $408,000 at Fanatics Collect in June 2026. In September 2026 alone, a regular Legendary Collection holo Gengar brought $336,000 in PSA 10, and a Masaki promo and an Arceus Gengar LV.X each brought $240,000. Below are the most valuable Gengar cards by confirmed sales, the results still awaiting payment, and what the modern Gengars people actually pull are worth.

How to Tell Which Gengar You Have

Reverse holo vs holo: on a reverse holo, the foil covers the card body and the art box is flat. Fanatics Collect's lot page for the record copy listed a PSA 10 population of 12 on October 12, 2026, and ComicBook.com reported in August 2026 that PSA listed only two PSA 10s of the Stormfront reverse holo.

Japanese Masaki promo: the No. 094 on the card is Gengar's Pokédex number, so every Japanese Gengar has it. Check that the card is the holo Masaki promo and that the PSA label reads "MASAKI PROMO", as on the slab sold at Goldin.

Gengar and Mimikyu GX: match the card number. #165 is the alternate art, #164 the regular full art, #186 the rainbow secret rare, and #53 the regular card.

Graded cards: at these prices, verify the cert number on the grader's site before you pay.

Halloween Gengars

Gengar is a Halloween favorite, but the seasonal promos are not the valuable ones. For October 2026, an Enhanced 2-Pack Blister with foil Gengar, Marshadow and Team Rocket's Mimikyu cards, a coin and two booster packs is due in stores, PokéGuardian reported on July 16, 2026. It is a retail product, not a rare chase card.
