Most Valuable Pelé Cards: The $1.17 Million Rookie Leads the Top 12

The highest public auction sale we found for a Pelé card is the 1958 Alifabolaget #635 rookie, which brought $1,170,000 in PSA 9 at Fanatics Collect on July 24, 2026. That beat the $976,000 Goldin sale from June, then called the highest Pelé rookie sale at auction. A PSA 9 was also reported sold for $1.33 million in 2022, outside an auction. Here are the 12 most valuable Pelé cards, how the rookie has moved by grade, and what a lower-grade copy costs.
Current as of October 31, 2026. One entry per card at its highest known sale. Auction results are from Goldin lot records and Fanatics Collect's Paid sold records, and auction prices include buyer's premium. Private sales are labeled. eBay, Heritage and Sotheby's were not fully swept, so a higher sale there is possible. Goldin's 2020 to 2022 prices use its 20% base premium. Goldin dates are US Eastern and Fanatics Collect dates are US Pacific.

The Reported $1.33 Million Sale
In February 2022, ESPN reported that fractional ownership company Rally Rd. was selling its PSA 9 Alifabolaget for $1.33 million, per SI, which called it the first soccer card to break $1 million. We keep it unranked because it was not a public auction, but it remains the highest reported Pelé price we found.
The Rookie Price Ladder by Grade
The 1958 Alifabolaget is the card collectors mean by "Pelé rookie," and SI ranked it first among all Brazil card sales in May 2026. Public results by grade:
- PSA 9: $1,170,000 (July 2026), $976,000 (June 2026) and $288,000 (November 2020)
- PSA 8: $340,100 (March 2021) and $164,700 (February 2025)
- SGC 7.5: $216,000 (January 2022)
- PSA 6: $195,600 (June 2022) and $34,404 (July 2026)
- PSA 4: $19,552 (October 2026)
Prices fall fast below the top grades, which is why a PSA 4 sits at under 2% of the record.
Our take: PSA 9 prices jumped in 2026, but mid-grade copies sit well below their 2021 and 2022 highs. Compare a card only against recent sales in the same grade.
What Makes a Pelé Card Valuable
- Date. The 1957 and 1958 issues lead the list, because they come from the start of his career
- Grade. Many of these cards were not made to survive, so even a PSA 2 can bring six figures when few copies exist
- Rarity of the issue. Compare the PSA population before you compare the price
- Modern 1/1s. Black Prizms and signed one-of-ones are the affordable end of the top of the market
