Pokémon TCG Live Adds Collection Missions, and Your Older Sets Count Too

Pokémon TCG Live has added Missions, a collecting feature that rewards completing groups of digital cards. It debuted with 30th Celebration on September 15, 2026, and older supported expansions are included too. Pokémon's feature announcement.

For a collector returning to the app, the first useful move is to inspect what the account already owns. A new feature does not automatically mean the next step is opening more packs.

What Changed With the Anniversary Update

The announcement describes a dozen tailored 30th Celebration Missions, with difficulty from Easy to Extra Hard. Rewards can include in-game currencies, booster packs and deck accessories. Older supported sets, from Black & White through Mega Evolution: Pitch Black, receive at least Main Set and Master Set completion Missions.

The official example shows a Pikachu Party goal for 30 unique Pikachu rare cards. Those are digital collection requirements. Consult the game's current screen for your progress and reward. Official details and example images.

Check What Is Missing Before Choosing What to Collect

Treat a Mission as a small collecting project. Read the target, inspect the listed cards, then compare the requirement with your collection. A character name alone is not always enough to distinguish an artwork or printing.

That approach gives you a reason for the next card you pursue. It also helps prevent a completion bar from becoming the only reason to keep playing when the actual artwork no longer interests you. Choose a goal you would still enjoy if the progress indicator were hidden.

A Digital Master Set Is Not a Rule for Your Binder

The words Master Set can mean different things depending on who defines the checklist. A game feature has its own requirements. A collector might instead include retailer stamps, product promos or particular foil versions in a physical binder.

That is why our physical master-set guide starts by writing down the scope. Do the same for an anniversary collection, but do not assume the game's completion label certifies every physical variant. Nor does finishing a binder necessarily prove you have completed the corresponding digital collection.

Keep separate records for the two projects. An entry in an app, a card in a sleeve and a sealed product on a shelf are different things to own.

Keep Collection Goals Separate From Timed Events

The September 15 anniversary programme includes other activities alongside Missions. Before choosing what to do next, read whether the screen is asking you to collect particular cards, advance a progression track or compete in an event. One type of progress should not be assumed to satisfy another.

The digital expansion release notice is also separate from a physical product launch. This article does not promise mailed prizes, a cash value for a digital reward or a transfer from TCG Live into another marketplace.

A Collector-Friendly Way to Try the Feature

For physical collecting, use a separate budget and check the actual item on offer.
