TAG Grading Opens a $29.95 Value Tier as Its Backlog Nears Zero

TAG Grading opened a new Value Tier on October 20, 2026, priced at $29.95 per card with a 10-card minimum, after reporting that its backlog is about 99% cleared, per its backlog tracker. That makes Value the cheapest of TAG's six current grading tiers, $10 below Base. TAG calls it a new tier, but it is not TAG's first Value level: its August 7, 2025 update also listed a Value service.
The Value Tier
Price
- $29.95 per card for both TCG and CCG cards and sports and entertainment cards, per TAG's product pages
Minimum
- 10 cards per Value service, and each service covers one card category, so the smallest Value order is $299.50 before return shipping
What's included
- The grade and DIG report, but not the 1,000-point TAG Score or rank. TAG's pricing page lists those from Standard ($59.95) up, as of October 23, 2026
Turnaround and protection
- An estimated 90 business days and protection up to $250 per card, per TAG's pricing page on October 23, 2026. TAG says turnaround estimates are not guaranteed
Availability
- TAG says the tier "will be available only as capacity allows" and may be paused or limited if demand outpaces capacity
Accepted cards
- TAG's pricing page says some cards are not accepted right now, including Yu-Gi-Oh!, pre-1989 cards, memorabilia and cards thicker than 50pt stock
Why It Opened Now
TAG's tracker says its backlog peaked at about 420% of its monthly processing capacity. It reported 96% recovery on September 30, 2026 and about 99% on October 20. "We will not knowingly take in more cards than we can reasonably process in line with our stated turnaround times," TAG wrote in its October 20 update. Our explainer on what TAG grading is covers the earlier pauses and the 1,000-point score, which Value does not include.

The Full TAG Price Ladder
Per TAG's product pages on October 23, 2026, the same for TCG and sports cards:
- Value: $29.95, 10-card minimum
- Base: $39.95, 5-card minimum
- Standard: $59.95
- Priority: $79.95
- Express: $149.95
- Premier: $299.95
TAG's pricing page says its grading price never changes with a card's value.
What It Means for Collectors
A cheaper option for bulk. Ten cards cost $299.50 at Value against $399.50 at Base. You save $100, but wait an estimated 30 more business days and get $250 of protection per card instead of $500, per TAG's pricing page. PSA's own backlog tracker put its backlog at 7.2 million units on October 20, 2026, and said it will keep reopening services in phases. Our PSA grading backlog update covers its tiers.
Our take: submit early or wait. TAG paused Base and Standard on May 1 and Express on May 28, 2026, per its tracker, and says Value may be paused or limited if demand outpaces capacity. If you plan to use Value, get your ten cards ready and check the tracker before you buy a submission.
