eBay Launches Free UK Card Price Guide After 6 Million Pokémon Searches

eBay began rolling out a free trading card price guide to UK account holders on September 1, 2026. The tool covers Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece and Disney Lorcana, using up to two years of completed eBay.co.uk transactions. The launch follows more than six million UK searches for Pokémon on eBay in July 2026.
What the Free UK Price Guide Includes
Collectors using the latest eBay app can open My eBay, select Scan cards from the Shortcuts menu and use a phone camera to identify a card. According to eBay's UK announcement, the guide supports raw cards and selected graded singles.
The price view draws on up to two years of completed eBay.co.uk transactions. It includes accepted Best Offer prices and is updated within the last 24 hours, according to eBay. Users can compare sold and active listings, then view PSA and CGC population report data when it is available.
The guide is free to UK eBay account holders using the latest app, with no subscription fee and no stated usage limit. Insights are also rolling out across app and desktop listings through a See insights option. Availability may not appear for every account at the same moment, so UK users should update the app before assuming the feature is missing.
Why Six Million Pokémon Searches Matters
eBay says Pokémon was searched more than six million times on eBay.co.uk in July 2026. Its release also says UK users searched for Pokémon more than 105 times per minute on average during 2025. Those are search counts on eBay's own platform, not unique people and not completed purchases.
The scale still explains why a scan-to-price route matters. A collector can move from camera identification to relevant completed sales without manually rebuilding every query. That is useful across five large games, especially when set names, card numbers and grading labels make broad searches noisy.

The graphic illustrates a card scan, a two-year trend view, five generic card categories and the UK market. eBay confirms the two-year data window and five named TCGs.
eBay's wider product investment also supports the rollout. Its second-quarter 2026 report says card scanning passed 80 million cumulative scans. The UK release separately names the five supported card games. The 80 million total is global and cumulative, so it should not be presented as UK guide usage.
What a Price Guide Can and Cannot Tell You
Completed sales are usually more useful than active asking prices, but an automated guide still needs a human check. The exact set, language, edition, card number, variant, condition and grade can change the relevant comparison. A single image match should be treated as a starting point, not a final identification.
Accepted Best Offer prices remove one common blind spot because the crossed-out asking price is not the real sale value. Population reports add grading context. Neither tells you whether a raw card would achieve the same grade, whether a sale will repeat or what fees and postage leave after a sale.
Our graded card verification guide covers certificate and holder checks before a purchase. For unusually large prices, compare the result with the exact examples in our most expensive trading cards guide, then look for multiple recent matches rather than one headline sale.
What It Means for Collectors
The most useful change is not a single number. It is the shorter route from a physical card to a set of relevant market records. That can help new collectors learn which details matter and help experienced sellers check a stack more quickly.
The caveat is platform scope. This guide reflects completed eBay.co.uk transactions, not every private sale, auction house or local shop. Thinly traded cards can still show gaps or misleading spikes. Prices also move with release cycles, tournament results, supply and card condition.
Use the scan, verify the identity, open the sold records and compare like with like. If the guide cannot find several credible matches, the honest answer may be that the current market is unclear.
Where to Go From Here
Update the eBay app, test a card you can identify independently and inspect the completed listings behind the estimate. For a pack-opening experience built around advance disclosure, the Polkastarter marketplace shows every card, value, and chance in every Lootbox before you open, with a free mystery pack at signup.
