Most Valuable Lugia Cards: The Biggest Confirmed Sales, Led by a $654,000 Neo Genesis PSA 10 (2026)

The most valuable Lugia card with a confirmed sale is a 1st Edition Neo Genesis Lugia #9 graded PSA 10, which sold for $654,000 on Alt on September 24, 2026. Two weeks earlier, a 2011 Call of Legends Lugia in PSA 10 brought $367,220 at Goldin. Below are the most valuable Lugia cards by confirmed sale, each tied to a lot page, sales record or grader's report, plus what the classic cards sell for in lower grades.
Current as of October 4, 2026. Prices are public sale results, not asking prices.
The Most Valuable Lugia Cards Ever Sold
1. Lugia #9, Neo Genesis 1st Edition (2000), PSA 10: $654,000
- Sale: Alt auction, September 24, 2026, after 35 bids
- Why it matters: the classic Lugia, and Pokémon Silver's box-art legend. The same card and grade sold for $205,794 on Alt in June, per ComicBook, and for $360,000 including buyer's premium on Fanatics Collect on August 31, 2026, after 25 bids. Alt's lot page shows a PSA 10 population of 45
2. Lugia #15, Call of Legends (2011), PSA 10: $367,220
- Sale: Goldin Pop Culture auction, closed early on September 10, 2026, after 49 bids, including buyer's premium ($301,000 winning bid)
- Why it matters: Goldin's listing counted just 13 PSA 10s among more than 925 graded copies. Auction Report noted it finished nearly twice as high as the auction's next-largest reported result
3. Crystal Lugia #149, Aquapolis (2003), PSA 10: $148,511
- Sale: Fanatics Collect, August 25, 2026, per the card's Fanatics Collect sales history. It is also Card Ladder's three-month high
- Why it matters: Goldin's April 2026 listing said fewer than 5 percent of the 3,000+ copies PSA had graded reached PSA 10. A PSA 10 sold for $95,770 at Goldin in April, so the price rose by about half in four months
4. Lugia #9, Neo Genesis 1st Edition (2000), BGS 10 Pristine: $144,300
- Sale: PWCC (now Fanatics Collect), May 2021, as reported by Wargamer and listed in PriceCharting's sales records
- Why it matters: still the BGS 10 high mark. Another BGS 10 Pristine copy sold for $60,000 on Fanatics Collect Premier on September 20, 2024, and that lot page counted it as one of four BGS 10s
5. Lugia LEGEND #113 and #114, HeartGold & SoulSilver (2010), PSA 10 pair: $120,000
- Sale: Fanatics Collect Weekly, August 10, 2026, after 50 bids, including buyer's premium
- Why it matters: LEGEND cards come in two halves, and this lot sold both PSA 10 halves together
6. Lugia #9, Neo Genesis 1st Edition (2000), CGC Pristine 10: $100,100
- Sale: eBay, March 18, 2026, reported by CGC
- Why it matters: CGC counted only 7 Pristine 10s among 1,275 copies it had graded, as of April 2026

What a 1st Edition Neo Genesis Lugia Is Worth by Grade
The grade decides almost everything. Recent sales for the same card, Lugia #9 from 1st Edition Neo Genesis:
- PSA 10: $654,000, Alt, September 24, 2026 ($360,000 on Fanatics Collect on August 31)
- CGC Pristine 10: $100,100, eBay, March 2026
- PSA 8: $7,200, eBay, September 30, 2026, per PriceCharting's sales records
- PSA 7: about $3,060 to $4,550 across seven September 2026 eBay sales, per PriceCharting
- Ungraded: most of 12 September 2026 eBay sales landed between about $1,000 and $2,100, per PriceCharting
So the latest PSA 10 sold for roughly 90 times a PSA 8. That gap is why condition and grading matter so much for vintage Lugia. If you are weighing graders, our CGC vs PSA comparison explains how the two scales differ.
Why Lugia Cards Sell So High
- Nostalgia. Lugia is the box-art legend of Pokémon Silver, and Neo Genesis was the first English set with Generation II Pokémon. Its Lugia art is by Hironobu Yoshida, per ComicBook.
- Population. Top grades are scarce for cards this old. Alt's and Fanatics Collect's lot pages showed a PSA 10 population of 45 for the Neo Genesis card, and Goldin's September 2026 listing counted 13 PSA 10s for Call of Legends.
- The 2026 vintage run. The Neo Genesis PSA 10 went from $205,794 on Alt in June to $360,000 on August 31 and $654,000 on September 24, more than triple the June price.
Goldin's lot description for its September 2026 sale put it this way: "Lugia is arguably the key Pokémon chase subject from Generation II."
Modern Lugia Cards Worth Knowing
Lugia, 30th Celebration Classic Collection (2026)
- Market Price of $215.84 on October 4, 2026, down from $372.17 at its September 24 to 26 peak, per TCGplayer
- Still the most valuable card in 30th Celebration after the ultra-rare RGB Mew, by TCGplayer prices
Lugia V Alternate Art, Silver Tempest 186/195 (2022)
- About $1,267 in PSA 10 and about $448 ungraded, per PriceCharting's averages on October 4, 2026
- Far more plentiful in top grade than the vintage cards above
Modern cards rarely reach vintage prices, because many more copies survive in top condition. For how Lugia compares with other legends, see our most valuable Rayquaza cards and most valuable Pokémon cards guides.

Where to Go From Here
