Mudkip Gold Star Sells for $1.02 Million at Fanatics Collect
A 2004 Mudkip Gold Star graded PSA 10 sold for $1,020,000 including buyer's premium at Fanatics Collect. The completed auction lot labels the sale September 21, 2026, shows 48 bids, and identifies the card as number 107 from EX Team Rocket Returns. Its description says the weekly auction closed on the evening of September 20. Those are two labels for the same sale, not two separate transactions.
The Million-Dollar Result Belongs to One Exact Copy
The lot is a PSA Gem Mint 10 English Mudkip Gold Star from EX Team Rocket Returns, with certification 28943070 visible in Fanatics Collect's photograph. The card, grade, language, holder and completed-sale status all matter. Searching only for “Mudkip Gold Star” would mix raw copies, lower grades and other sales into one misleading comparison.
The final amount includes the auction house's buyer's premium. Fanatics displays $1,020,000 with buyer's premium, not a $1,020,000 opening bid or an asking price. An independent weekly auction report also identifies the Mudkip result as a completed seven-figure sale. Neither source establishes what another copy would bring tomorrow.
Why This Is a Gold Star Story, Not a New Price for Every Mudkip
Gold Star results are extraordinarily sensitive to the exact card and condition. Our earlier Gold Star sales report covers two PSA 10 Treecko copies sold in August. Those are useful evidence that high-grade Gold Stars have attracted bidders, but Treecko is a different card and its results are not a direct Mudkip valuation.
The new Mudkip final happens to equal the $1,020,000 paid for a CGC Pristine 10 Rayquaza Gold Star in August. Equal auction totals do not make the specimens equivalent. They differ by Pokémon, set, grading company and holder designation. Treat each as an individually documented sale, not a rule that Gold Stars now cost seven figures.
What a Collector Can Actually Check
Start with the completed Fanatics listing, not a cropped social screenshot. Record the card number, set, language, grade, certification, sale date and whether the displayed figure includes the premium. Compare the front and back images before using this lot as a reference for a seller's card.
