Shiny Applin Is Coming to Pokémon GO, With Shadow Zekrom Following Days Later
Pokémon GO's next orchard visit has a much bigger guest waiting behind it. Newly announced Harvest Festival: Applin Picking brings the debut of Shiny Applin from September 29. Team GO Rocket joins the event on October 2 with Shadow Zekrom. These are confirmed upcoming additions, not encounters already available on September 8.
Shiny Applin Arrives September 29
Harvest Festival runs September 29 at 10 a.m. through October 5 at 8 p.m. local time. The official announcement introduces Shiny Applin and makes apple collection a central activity. Mossy Lure Modules attract apples that can produce items or Pokémon encounters when tapped.
Branched Timed Research offers three apple-focused paths. The free GO Pass also includes a bonus that makes Applin more likely to hold Tart, Sweet, or Syrupy Apples. A Deluxe pass is optional, not a requirement to acknowledge before you can enjoy the event.
The practical decision is which apple route helps the collection you actually want. Read each branch before selecting it, then check which evolution or unfinished entry you are working toward. Collecting everything is one possible goal, not an obligation imposed by the event page.
Shiny availability means a chance to encounter that variant, not a promise that any particular session will produce one. Keep the excitement attached to the new addition rather than an assumed result.
Shadow Zekrom Starts Later
The Team GO Rocket announcement gives the takeover its own window: October 2 at midnight through October 5 at 8 p.m. local time. A Super Rocket Radar available through the event GO Pass leads to Giovanni and Shadow Zekrom.
Two restrictions matter. Giovanni appears only at PokéStops for this event, and Shadow or Purified Pokémon cannot fuse. Do not build a plan around turning this Zekrom into a fusion partner. The takeover also allows a Charged TM to remove Frustration from a Shadow Pokémon.
For anyone returning after a break, check the actual radar and encounter instructions in the app. A shared festival name does not make every activity available from the same moment, through the same location, or with the same item.
Three Deadlines Belong in Your Notes
The main festival begins September 29. Rocket activity begins October 2. Both end October 5, but not every reward follows the same final clock: festival Timed Research must be completed and claimed by October 5 at 8 p.m., while GO Pass rewards remain claimable until October 7 at 8 p.m. local time.
Our suggestion is to keep a short checklist with an encounter start, a task deadline, and a reward claim deadline. That is more useful than one screenshot saying only “Harvest Festival.” Give each reminder the name of the task it actually controls.
Do the same when sharing the news with a friend. “Shiny Applin later this month” and “Shadow Zekrom in October” are more accurate invitations than saying both have launched. The announcements are new this week. The encounters are still ahead.
From a Favorite Pokémon to a Physical Collection
An event can be a good reason to revisit a favorite character without buying everything carrying its name. A digital variant, a promotional card, and a regular set card are different objects with different ways to obtain them.

Choose a collecting lane before choosing a purchase. You may want the in-game entry, artwork for a binder, or simply a few enjoyable sessions outdoors. A new announcement does not turn all three into one shopping requirement.

Save the two official announcements and check them again near September 29.
