Tom Brady Championship Ticket #045 Sells for $854,000 at Goldin

A 2000 Playoff Contenders Championship Ticket autograph, the Tom Brady rookie card numbered 045/100 and graded PSA 8, sold for $854,000 at Goldin on October 17, 2026. That is $700,000 plus Goldin's 22% buyer's premium, after 37 bids. The same card has now sold four times at Goldin since December 2022, in the same PSA slab (cert 19778427), and this is the highest of those four prices. SI Collectibles ranked it the No. 2 sports card sale of the week on October 19, 2026.
The Card
What it is
- 2000 Playoff Contenders Championship Ticket Autograph #144, Tom Brady's signed rookie card, serial-numbered 045 of 100
Grade
- PSA NM-MT 8, cert 19778427. When the lot was listed in September 2026, Goldin's description said only one higher-graded example had been confirmed in PSA's census or PSA/DNA population reports
Sale
- Goldin 2026 Monthly Sports Elite #9, closed the evening of October 17, 2026 (US Eastern time)
- $700,000 winning bid after 37 bids, $854,000 with the buyer's premium
Four Sales of the Same Ticket
Each Championship Ticket carries its own serial number, so #045/100 is one specific card. Goldin's lot photos show the same PSA 8 slab, cert 19778427, all four times:
- December 2022: $690,000 after 26 bids
- March 2023: $570,000 after 23 bids
- June 2023: $396,000 after 25 bids
- October 2026: $854,000 after 37 bids

The Last Year of Ticket Sales at Goldin
Three Championship Tickets have sold at Goldin since September 2025, per its lot records:
- September 2025, #048/100, PSA 8: $549,000 after 22 bids
- March 2026, #041/100, BGS 9: $756,400 after 27 bids. Goldin's listing called it one of seven BGS 9 copies in Beckett's census, with none graded higher
- October 2026, #045/100, PSA 8: $854,000 after 37 bids
The October PSA 8 beat the March BGS 9 by $97,600, and the September 2025 PSA 8 by $305,000. The unnumbered base Rookie Ticket autograph is a different card: in the same October auction, a BGS 9 copy sold for $78,080 and a BGS 8.5 for $52,460.
Where It Sits Among Brady Tickets
The ticket is Brady's flagship rookie card, and top copies have sold for far more. At Goldin, a BGS 8.5 copy numbered 095/100 sold for $1,680,000 in April 2021, and a BGS 9 copy numbered 066/100 sold for $1,200,000 in June 2023. Our list of the most expensive football cards ever sold has the $3.107 million BGS 9 record set at Lelands in June 2021.
Our take: track the serial number, not just the card. The same slab dropped $294,000 in about six months from December 2022, then came back 116% above that low. A Championship Ticket comp only tells the full story when you know which numbered copy it is and when it last traded. Grade matters too: our guide on whether PSA grading is worth it shows how the costs line up against resale.
