Art Academy Mudkip PSA 10 Sells for $4.88 Million at Goldin

A 2015 Pokémon Japanese XY Promo Art Academy Mudkip, illustrated by Daisuke Ochiai and graded PSA 10, sold for $4,880,000 after 73 bids in Goldin's Pokémon 30th Anniversary Auction, closing after midnight Eastern on October 26, 2026. That is a $4,000,000 hammer price plus Goldin's 22% buyer's premium. The same night, a Gold 1st Place Trophy Pikachu sold for $3,080,500.

A Third PSA 10, a New High

Three different PSA 10 certs have now sold publicly. A PSA 10 (cert 94106406) sold for $42,000 at Fanatics Collect on November 21, 2024. A second (cert 78687479) sold for $3,720,000 at Fanatics Collect on September 25, 2026, marked paid. Fanatics Collect listed the PSA 10 population as two at that sale, so Goldin's copy is the newest addition to PSA's census. It beat the September price by $1,160,000, a month later. Among Art Academy cards, only the Raincoat Pikachu's $8.4 million sale at Fanatics Collect in September 2026 is higher in our records. In the same Goldin auction, another Raincoat Pikachu PSA 10 sold for $274,500, after one made $1,037,000 at Goldin on October 11, so Art Academy prices still swing widely from copy to copy.

A Trophy Pikachu PSA 8 Made Triple Its March Comp

The Gold 1st Place Trophy Pikachu was awarded at the first official Pokémon TCG tournament in Japan in 1997, and Goldin's lot text, posted in September 2026, says PSA has graded eight copies. Another PSA 8 copy of the same card sold for $982,100 at Goldin in March 2026. This one made $3,080,500, more than three times as much. Our preview of the auction covers the card's history.

Prize cards set the top of the night. Four of the five highest results were Art Academy or tournament prize cards, cards that were never sold in packs.
