The most valuable Charizard cards are led by a 1996 Japanese Base Set No Rarity Symbol Charizard graded PSA 10, in a case signed by illustrator Mitsuhiro Arita, which sold for $1,232,200 at Goldin in March 2026, the top Charizard result with a confirmed auction lot page. In English, the highest auction-house result is a 1999 Base Set 1st Edition Charizard in PSA 10, pulled in Logan Paul's box break, at $954,800 at Goldin in February 2026. Below are the biggest confirmed Charizard sales, what each print is worth now, and how to tell which Charizard you have.

Current as of October 8, 2026. Ranked prices are public auction results including buyer's premium. Value estimates are PriceCharting and Card Ladder data.

The biggest Charizard results we confirmed on an auction lot page, as of October 8, 2026.

Two reported sales we could not tie to a lot page. SI Collectibles and Card Ladder report that a PSA 10 No Rarity Charizard sold for $1.7 million on March 3, 2026. Neither names the auction house or seller, and we found no lot page, so it is not ranked. CNN reported that a 1995 Topsun Blue Back Charizard in PSA 10 sold for $493,230 at Goldin in 2021.

What a Charizard Is Worth by Print

1st Edition Base Set Charizard #4 (1999)

  • PSA 10: $462,500 at Heritage on June 26, 2026, per Card Ladder, up to $954,800 for the Logan Paul copy in February 2026
  • PSA 9: $78,000 on September 29, 2026, with eight sales from July to October averaging about $65,000, per Card Ladder
  • Ungraded: about $9,560, per PriceCharting on October 8, 2026

Shadowless Base Set Charizard #4 (1999)

  • PSA 10: last sold for $140,000 on February 16, 2026, per Card Ladder. PriceCharting's $24,808 estimate rests on very few sales
  • Grade 9: about $9,390
  • Ungraded: about $990

Unlimited Base Set Charizard #4 (1999)

Shining Charizard #107, Neo Destiny 1st Edition (2002)

  • PSA 10: $51,240 to $69,541 in Goldin sales in 2026, led by a June 2026 sale. PriceCharting put PSA 10 at about $59,720 on October 8, 2026

Modern Charizard ex cards, per PriceCharting on October 8, 2026:

  • Charizard ex #199, Scarlet & Violet 151 (2023): about $336 ungraded and $1,380 in PSA 10
  • Charizard ex #223, Obsidian Flames (2023): about $94 ungraded and $698 in PSA 10

How to Tell Which Charizard You Have

  • Check the set and number first. Base Set Charizard is #4/102. Japanese Base Set Charizard shows No. 006 (its Pokédex number) and has no set number, and the earliest print has no rarity symbol in the bottom corner. Our rarity symbols guide shows where to look
  • On an English Base Set copy, look for the 1st Edition stamp, a small black circle with a "1" and the word "EDITION", just below the bottom-left corner of the art box. That stamp multiplies the price. A 1st Edition PSA 9 sold for $78,000 in September 2026, while PriceCharting values a Shadowless grade 9 at about $9,390. Our 1st Edition Pokémon cards guide covers how to spot it
  • Then look for the shadow. Unlimited copies have a drop shadow on the right edge of the art box. Shadowless copies do not. A card with a 1st Edition stamp and a drop shadow is a fake, because every 1st Edition Base Set card was printed shadowless
  • Grade decides the rest. The same 1st Edition Charizard runs from about $9,560 ungraded to $462,500 or more in PSA 10, so condition matters more than anything else on this list

Base Set Charizard is one of the most counterfeited cards in the hobby. If you buy a graded copy, check the certification number on the grader's site, as covered in our guide to verifying a graded card.

Our take: Charizard prices in 2026 depended as much on the slab label as on the grade. Two 1st Edition PSA 10s sold three weeks apart for $954,800 and $518,500. If you are pricing one, compare several recent sales of the same print, grade and label before you trust any single number. Frequently Asked Questions

What is the most expensive Charizard card?

The highest auction result we confirmed on a lot page is a 1996 Japanese Base Set No Rarity Symbol Charizard in PSA 10, in a case signed by Mitsuhiro Arita, which sold for $1,232,200 at Goldin in March 2026.
