Festival in a Box: Atlanta 2026 goes on sale on October 19, 2026 at MagicSecretLair.com for $249.99, limited to two per customer, Wizards of the Coast announced on October 5. Each box holds all 24 boosters of Mystery Booster Commander Edition, the Commander draft product that so far has only reached players at its Gen Con debut in August, plus a four-card Secret Lair foil drop and four promo cards. Here is what is inside, how it compares with past Festival boxes, and what to know before October 19.

What Is in Festival in a Box: Atlanta 2026

Per Wizards:

  • 1 Mystery Booster Commander Edition box: 24 boosters
  • 1 Secret Gallery: Atlanta Foil Edition drop: foil Parallax Tide, Regrowth, Viridian Revel and Assassin's Trophy, illustrated by artists from Atlanta. MTG Rocks reported on October 5 that Parallax Tide and Viridian Revel have never been reprinted, and Scryfall lists only their original Nemesis (2000) and Scars of Mirrodin (2010) printings
  • 4 Festival promo cards: Dance of the Dead, Tana, the Bloodsower and Tymna the Weaver, all full art, textless and foil, plus Auspicious Aquarium, a playtest card Wizards says was designed and illustrated by Head Designer Mark Rosewater

The sale details

  • On sale: October 19, 2026, at MagicSecretLair.com. TheGamer reports a 9 a.m. PT start, which Wizards' post does not state
  • Price: $249.99
  • Limit: two per customer, while supplies last
  • Shipping: not stated in the announcement
  • Wizards' Secret Lair page showed a notify sign-up for the drop on October 7, 2026

What Is Mystery Booster Commander Edition?

It is a draft booster built for Commander. Wizards wrote on October 5, 2026 that "each booster includes reprints from throughout Magic's history that were hand-selected for the ultimate Commander Draft experience." Wizards lists 20 cards per booster:

  • 15 commons or uncommons, three of each color
  • 1 reprint wildcard of any rarity
  • 1 rare or mythic rare reprinted commander
  • 1 new-to-Magic commander, non-foil or traditional foil
  • 1 Future Sight frame card or traditional foil acorn-stamp card
  • 1 playtest card

Wizards says the product was announced in Amsterdam and premiered in Indianapolis, calls Atlanta its worldwide debut, and calls Festival in a Box the first chance to get a full box. Its August 3 product guide names two routes to a box, events like MagicCon and Festival in a Box, and MTG Salvation reported the same day that no plans had been announced to bring it to WPN stores.

The same guide says the new-to-Magic cards are legal in Commander from November 13, 2026, and in Legacy, Vintage and other Eternal formats from January 1, 2027. Playtest and acorn-stamp cards are not legal in any Constructed format.

How It Compares With Past Festival Boxes

  • Amsterdam 2026: $199.99 on July 13, 2026, with a Mystery Booster 2 box and the Wild in Bloom drop, also two per customer, per Wizards
  • Atlanta 2026: $249.99, $50 more, with Mystery Booster Commander Edition in place of Mystery Booster 2
  • Atlanta 2025: sold out in about an hour across US and EU stores despite a two-per-order limit, according to Draftsim on August 19, 2025, and MTG Rocks, which timed it at "an hour and nine minutes" on August 20, 2025

The box also lines up with MagicCon: Atlanta and the Magic World Championship 32, both on November 13 to 15, 2026 at the Georgia World Congress Center, per magic.gg.

What It Means for Collectors

  • Be ready at launch. Last year's Atlanta box sold out in about an hour. Be logged in to Secret Lair before the sale starts, and check the start time on the day.
  • This is the box route for Mystery Booster Commander Edition. Wizards names only events like MagicCon and Festival in a Box, and no store release had been announced as of October 7, 2026, so outside events this is the way to get sealed boosters.
  • Know what you are chasing. The four Secret Gallery foils and the four promos are fixed contents. The boosters are random, so the reprinted commanders and new-to-Magic commanders you open will vary box to box.

Our take: at $249.99, the 24 boosters are the bulk of what you pay for, so this box suits players who want to run a Commander draft with friends more than collectors chasing one card. The foils and promos come in every box, but the boosters are random, so if you want one specific commander from them, buying that single after the boxes ship is the only way to be sure you get it.
