Shohei Ohtani's game-used, kanji-signed Dodgers jersey from the March 18, 2025 Tokyo Series opener sold for $2,055,700 at The Realest, in an auction that closed on the night of October 17, 2026. The price includes The Realest's 22% buyer's premium, and Bleacher Report reported the same result on October 18. It tops the $1,500,010 Ohtani's 2026 World Baseball Classic jersey brought in March, which TSN called the most ever paid for an Ohtani jersey at auction.

What Sold

The game

  • Opening Game of the 2025 MLB Tokyo Series at Tokyo Dome, March 18, 2025, Dodgers 4, Cubs 1
  • Ohtani's first official MLB game in Japan. The Realest's listing says he went 2-for-5 with two runs

The jersey

  • Dodgers road gray, OHTANI 17
  • Gold MLB Logoman patch just below the back collar, plus the 2025 Tokyo Series patch and a Fernando Valenzuela No. 34 memorial patch

Signed and inscribed

  • Signed in kanji and inscribed "GU 3-18-25", "Opening Day Tokyo Series" and "25 NL MVP", per the listing and its photos

Authentication

  • MLB Authentication Program, photo-matched by SIA Photomatching, with the signing documented by Fanatics Authentic, per The Realest

Price

  • $2,055,700 including the 22% buyer's premium

Why the Gold Logoman Matters

MLB introduced a gold version of its logo patch for the 2025 season, worn on the back of the jersey by six 2024 award winners, Ohtani among them. MLB.com said that after the season, 10 authenticated game-worn patches from each player would become autographed Logoman trading cards.

Because the Tokyo opener was the first regular-season game of 2025, The Realest bills this as the first Gold Logoman ever worn in an official MLB game. MLB.com reported that Ohtani first wore the patch three days earlier, in a March 15, 2025 exhibition against the Yomiuri Giants at Tokyo Dome, so "official" is doing the work in that claim. Unlike the gold patches behind his biggest 2026 card sales, this one was never cut out for a card.

"This is one of those rare pieces where the history, provenance and market all come together," The Realest founder and CEO Scott Keeney said when the auction was announced on September 17, 2026.

How the Bidding Built

  • September 23, 2026: $460,000, per Dodgers Nation
  • October 15, 2026: $1.335 million with more than two days to go, per SI
  • Final: $2,055,700 with buyer's premium, per The Realest. That is a $1,685,000 winning bid plus the 22% premium (our calculation), about $350,000 above the October 15 bid

The Realest also ran a free guess-the-price contest paying 1% of the final sale to the closest guess, per SI. No winner had been announced when we checked on October 18, 2026.

The same house sold Ohtani's signed Tokyo Series shoes from the same game for $440,055 in August 2026, per Bleacher Report.

What It Means for Collectors

Our take: the moment is the multiplier. The WBC jersey and this one are both game-used Ohtani jerseys from Tokyo Dome. This one comes from his first official MLB game in Japan, is signed and inscribed in kanji, and still carries the Gold Logoman patch. It sold for about $556,000 more, or about $185,000 more if you compare its $1,685,000 winning bid before premium with the WBC jersey's MLB Auctions price.

Cards follow the same logic. Gold Logoman patches cut from his game jerseys sit on several of his biggest card sales, led by the $11 million Back to Back Dual Gold Logoman 1/1. Our story on the $11 million Ohtani card explains the Back to Back Gold Logoman, and our most valuable Shohei Ohtani cards list covers the rest. For where the very top of the game-worn market sits, see our story on the $14 million Michael Jordan Finals jersey, second only to Babe Ruth's $24.12 million "Called Shot" jersey.
