Bonds' 715th Home Run Ball and a LeBron Team USA Jersey Headline Goldin's Game-Used Auction

The ball Barry Bonds hit for his 715th career home run, the one that moved him past Babe Ruth into second place all-time, opened at $100,000 in Goldin's 2026 Fall Game Used Memorabilia Auction, which is scheduled to close at 10 p.m. ET on November 7, 2026. The top bid so far, $260,000 on October 18, 2026, is on a 2004 Team USA jersey that Goldin bills as the one LeBron James wore in his first game for his country. Sports Collectors Digest previewed the sale on October 14.
The Bonds 715 Ball
The home run
- May 28, 2006, at AT&T Park against Colorado, off Byung-Hyun Kim, per Goldin's lot description
- A two-run shot in the fourth inning that passed Babe Ruth's 714
Authentication
- MLB Authenticated, hologram BB046519 per Goldin's lot data, and the hologram is visible on the ball
Where it has been
- The fan who recovered it, Andrew Morbitzer, sold it in an online auction for $220,100 in August 2006, according to an Associated Press report in the Press Democrat and KPBS
- The same hologram number appears on an SCP Auctions listing from its 2022 Spring Premier auction, where it is marked unsold
Bidding so far
- One bid at the $100,000 opening as of October 18, 2026, before Goldin's 22% buyer's premium
The Other Headliners
Bids below are as of October 18, 2026, before the 22% buyer's premium. All lots are scheduled to close at 10 p.m. ET on November 7, 2026, per Goldin's lot data.
- LeBron James, Team USA jersey, July 29, 2004: $260,000 after 13 bids at Goldin. Goldin and two photo-match letters tie it to a July 29, 2004 game against Puerto Rico, which Goldin calls his Team USA debut, and two more pre-Olympic games. A USA Basketball recap republished by Clemson dates Team USA's first exhibition, a 96-71 win over Puerto Rico in Jacksonville, to July 31, 2004, and other reports say coach Larry Brown suspended James for a game against Puerto Rico
- LeBron James, Miami Heat "Noche Latina" jersey, 2012-13: $245,000 after 22 bids at Goldin. Photo-matched to his game-winner against Orlando on March 6, 2013, during the Heat's 27-game win streak
- Shohei Ohtani, Dodgers road jersey, June 25, 2024: $130,000 after 4 bids at Goldin. Worn for a leadoff home run against the White Sox in his 50-50 season
- Jackie Robinson, 1953 Louisville Slugger bat: $70,000 after 5 bids at Goldin. PSA/DNA GU 9, from the personal collection of Jim Irsay, per Goldin
- Lewis Hamilton, 2000 karting fire suit: no bids yet at a $10,000 opening on Goldin. Photo-matched to the Karting World Championship in Braga, Portugal, when Hamilton was 15
By our count of Goldin's lot data, 380 of the 530 lots had at least one bid on October 18, 2026. SCD's preview also lists a 1960 Mantle jersey that does not appear in Goldin's lot data on October 18.

What It Means for Collectors
Our take: provenance is the product. Every headliner here carries third-party paperwork: an MLB hologram, a photo-match letter, or for the Robinson bat a PSA/DNA GU 9 grade. The Bonds ball is the clearest case: the hologram on the ball matches the number in the 2022 SCP listing, so its trail can be followed. The LeBron jersey shows why you read the paperwork: if you bid, ask Goldin which game its photo-match images come from.
Put the LeBron bids in context. His Game 7 jersey from the 2013 NBA Finals sold for $3.68 million at Sotheby's in January 2023, per SCD and Fox Business. Game-worn prices depend heavily on which game it was. For more on that, see our story on the $14 million Michael Jordan Finals jersey, and for the card side of baseball, our list of the most expensive baseball cards.
Remember the premium. A $100,000 bid costs $122,000 with Goldin's 22% buyer's premium, before tax and shipping.
