Star Wars: Unlimited Homeworlds Delay: What Is Late, Where, and the New Dates Before the October 9 Release

Star Wars: Unlimited Homeworlds still releases on October 9 in most regions, but Fantasy Flight Games says manufacturing problems mean most stores won't get the full product range in time for the October 2 prerelease, according to its September 25 product update. Australia and New Zealand are the only regions with new official dates, October 15 for prerelease and October 16 for release. Carbonite boosters are the product most likely to be missing. Here is what is late, where, and what it means if you plan to open or collect the set.
What Fantasy Flight Games Announced
The notice went up on September 25, a week before the October 2 prerelease. FFG blamed problems at its manufacturing partner and said some products beyond Carbonite would also arrive late.
"This is the first time we have missed a release date for our mainline product," FFG wrote, adding an apology and a promise to work with its manufacturer on on-time releases for future sets.
The key points:
- Dates: FFG kept the October 2 prerelease and October 9 release for most regions
- Australia and New Zealand: moved to October 15 (prerelease) and October 16 (release), which FFG calls the only official date change
- Stock: "Product that does arrive at retailers will be limited at the outset with replenishments happening after release," per FFG
- Carbonite: a same-day edit to the notice said an earlier Carbonite delay still affects stores worldwide, and that most retailers should expect limited or no Carbonite product at prerelease and release
FFG did not mention any compensation for stores or players, and it called the situation still developing. We found no follow-up notice on the official site as of October 4.
Which Homeworlds Products Are Delayed, by Region
FFG listed the affected products country by country:
Standard boosters, Carbonite boosters, prerelease boxes and Spotlight Decks
- China, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam
The same four products plus Weekly Play Kits
- Colombia, Mexico, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates
Carbonite boosters only
- Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, the Nordics, Romania, Taiwan and the United Kingdom
Australia
- The whole set moves to October 15 (prerelease) and October 16 (release), with no separate product list
New Zealand
- Carbonite boosters, prerelease boxes and Spotlight Decks, on top of the new October 15 and 16 dates
United States
- No list. FFG tells US players to check with their local game store to see what products, if any, are delayed
FFG's same-day edit says every country on this list with a Carbonite delay is guaranteed to miss the prerelease window for Carbonite.

What Is in Homeworlds
Homeworlds is the game's ninth set, with over 260 new cards, per the official set page. It adds the Fortify keyword, plus Beast and Weakness tokens.
Booster pack (16 cards)
- About 9 commons, 3 uncommons, 1 rare or legendary, 1 leader, 1 base or token, and 1 Hyperspace foil card
Prerelease Box
- 6 booster packs plus materials to play, released one week before the rest of the set
Spotlight Decks
- Two pre-built 50-card decks, led by Chewbacca and Grand Moff Tarkin
Carbonite Edition boosters
- Premium packs loaded with variant cards, including Carbonite-exclusive Prestige variants. FFG says the packs are limited in quantity and will not be reprinted
- In Carbonite packs, all 16 cards carry a special treatment such as foil, Hyperspace or Showcase, per FFG's January 2025 Carbonite explainer, written for the Jump to Lightspeed set. A regular Homeworlds pack has one Hyperspace foil slot
- Carbonite cards are variants of cards in the set, so no gameplay card is exclusive to them, per the same explainer
What It Means for Collectors
For players, the notice pointed to a thinner October 2 prerelease and a slower first few weeks of booster stock. For collectors, Carbonite is the story. It is the premium, never-reprinted product, and it is the one FFG expects most stores worldwide to be short on at launch.
Our take: don't overpay for Carbonite in launch week just because your store's shelf is empty. FFG describes Carbonite as delayed, not cancelled, so check when your store expects its late shipment before you chase singles.
We saw a similar pattern when Wizards announced regional Reality Fracture delays for Magic: The Gathering. For what the top Magic cards actually sell for, see our most expensive MTG cards guide. Disney Lorcana's next set is also out this month, and our Hyperia City Coco cards piece covers the set's Coco cards.
Where to Go From Here
Check with your local store before October 9, especially if you want Carbonite. If you want to open real cards in the meantime, the Polkastarter marketplace gives you a free mystery pack when you sign up, and every Lootbox lists its contents, values, and chances before you open.
